Heart Disease Risk Calculator

Calculate Your 10-Year Risk for Developing Heart Disease

ARE YOU AT RISK FOR EXPERIENCING A HEART ATTACK?

Heart disease is the number one killer of American men and women. This calculator, based on the Framingham Heart Study, estimates your risk for developing heart disease in the next 10 years. This tool, widely used by doctors, is designed to estimate heart disease risk in adults aged 20 and older who do not have heart disease or diabetes. (If you already have heart disease or diabetes, or if you are outside of the age range of 20-79 years, this calculator does not apply to you.)

Before you get started, you will need to gather some information about your health. You may need to contact your doctor's office and ask them to provide the following pieces of information for you:

  • Your Total Cholesterol number
  • Your HDL Cholesterol number (also called "good cholesterol")
  • Your Systolic Blood Pressure number
(This is the "top" number in a blood pressure measurement. For example, if you have a blood pressure reading of "120 over 80" - written as 120/80 - the systolic blood pressure number is 120.)

Once you have obtained the above information, please proceed to the calculator tool to assess your 10-year risk for heart disease.
