Thiazolidinediones
Like biguanides, thiazolidinediones (sometimes called glitazones) may also be used to treat Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), a condition that reduces or prevents ovulation. PCOS is also associated with a decrease in the body?s ability to use insulin properly. Because thiazolidinediones improve insulin utilization, taking one of them may help to restore more normal ovulation for women with PCOS. Thiazolidinediones are often prescribed along with fertility enhancers such as gonadotropins. Drugs in the class
Pioglitazone (Actos)
Rosiglitazone (Avandia) |
