Salicylates
Salicylates reduce pain and swelling by blocking the body's production of chemicals that cause inflammation.
Salicylates, especially aspirin, are also used to help prevent platelets from sticking together to form blood clots. Therefore, these medications can reduce the risk of heart attack or stroke, specifically in people who have already had a heart attack or stroke, or who have poor circulation to the legs that cause pain when they walk.
