Treatment Options

Immunosuppressants

Immunosuppressant drugs, such as cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune) or mycophenolate (CellCept) are typically used to prevent rejection of transplanted organs (such as liver or kidneys). However, these drugs can be used for treatment of widespread psoriasis when other treatments have failed. These drugs help slow skin cell growth. Because of the potential effects on the kidneys and blood pressure, close medical monitoring and regular blood tests are required.

Drugs in the class

Mycophenolate Mofetil Capsules (CellCept Capsules)

Cyclosporine Capsules (Sandimmune)
