Vitamin D Analogues

Vitamin D analogues, such as calcipotriene (Dovonex), help regulate skin cell production and may be used in combination with topical steroids. Limited amounts of Dovonex should be used to avoid side effects. Since vitamin D can affect growing bone, vitamin D analogues should be used with special care in children. Ordinary vitamin D supplements that are found in drug stores or health food stores are of no value in treating psoriasis.
