MAO-B Inhibitors

Selegiline (Eldepryl) may be considered for use in individuals with intact cognitive function (that is, the ability to think, reason, remember, imagine, or learn) who aren't functionally disabled.

Selegiline is also FDA approved for use in later stages of Parkinson's disease to boost the effects of levodopa and carbidopa. Insomnia and jitteriness are two common side effects of selegiline. Due to the increased effects of carbidopa and levodopa, worsening of involuntary movements, delusions, and hallucinations may also occur.
