Anticonvulsants

Pregabalin (Lyrica) is the only medication that has been approved by the FDA for the treatment of fibromyalgia. Gabapentin (Neurontin), an anticonvulsant, used to treat diabetes and nerve related pain following a herpes zoster infection (shingles), has also been investigated for its effectiveness as a treatment for fibromyalgia and found to be useful in reducing pain associated with FM.
