Carbonic Anhydrase Inhibitors

Carbonic anhydrase inhibitors are available as a topical eye medication as well as tablets or capsules that are taken by mouth. These medications decrease the rate that the aqueous humor flows into the eye. It is thought that the topical carbonic anhydrase inhibitor eye medications have fewer side effects than the tablets or capsules taken by mouth.
