Corticosteroids

Corticosteroids are often used to treat Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) in individuals who do not experience complete resolution of symptoms with aminosalicylates use alone. Corticosteroids help stop the inflammation of the intestinal lining, which is responsible for the symptoms associated with IBD. Corticosteroids are used to treat active disease but not to maintain remission.
