Zyban
Zyban has been proven effective as both single therapy and in combination with NRT at increasing smoking cessation success rates. It is not currently known how Zyban affects smoking cessation; however it is believed that Zyban increases chemicals in the brain that help prevent nicotine cravings and symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.
Persons with a history of seizures, eating disorders, bipolar disorder, and head traumas should avoid the use of Zyban.
It is best to begin taking Zyban about seven days prior to your quit date. For the first three days, 150mg every morning should be taken. 150mg twice daily should be taken for the remainder of the treatment. Treatment should normally last between 7-12 weeks.
