Narcotic Analgesics
Narcotic analgesics work by blocking the transmission of pain to the brain and blunting brain's perception of pain. Narcotic analgesics are sometimes used in shingles to relieve severe pain from the shingles rash. They may also occasionally be used to relieve severe pain associated with postherpetic neuralgia (PHN).
