Hormone--Parathyroid

Calcitonin modifies the action of osteoclasts by either reducing the number of osteoclasts or by making them less effective at breaking down bone. It also has been shown to relieve bone pain associated with cancer. Calcitonin can be laboratory made from human or salmon origins. Calcitonin derived from salmon is more potent and longer-acting than human calcitonin. The difference in potency appears to be due to its chemical structure.
